Post-Medieval asymmetrical double loop buckle
Description
English: Post-Medieval cast copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle, c.1575-1700. One loop trapezoidal, other D-shaped; pin missing; lobed protrusion either end of strap bar; bevelled inside and outside edges. Traces of iron corrosion on pin bar and both outer edges - iron pin? Both loops bent upwards slightly. Length 26.6mm, width 21.0mm, thickness 2.1mm-2.8mm, weight 2.87g. See Whitehead 1996 ('Buckles 1250-1800', Greenlight) p.91 no.564 for a similar buckle, with copper alloy pin.
