Post-Medieval Coin: Sixpence of William III
Description
English: A worn and possibly clipped post-Medieval silver sixpence of William III (1694-1702), minted at Bristol and dated 1697 on coin.

Obverse: [GVLIEL]MVS III.DEI.G[RA], Laureate and draped bust facing right (B below bust)

Reverse: 97.MAG.BR.FRA.ET.HIB.REX.16, Four shields within which are a harp, one lion rampant, three lions passant and three fleurs-de-lis, all around a central circle with the lion of Nassau within, creating a cruciform shape.

Diameter: 20.0mm. Weight: 2.30g. DA=12:6.

This coin has been pierced and the hole contains iron, possibly the remains of a nail.
