Notes Dutch diplomat Abraham Booth remarked in 1627 that the cabinet and chair of Queen Constance were covered with black velvet. Late renaissance style, stuffed chair covered with crimson velvet depicted in the painting was probably one of the series upholstered en suite (even when they were actually not made to match each other).
