THE ;PUBLIC TILc THE TIGER OF all the wild animals that live in hot countries, theIndian Tiger is one of the most beautiful. His body,which measures about six feet from the tip of the noseto the root of the tail, is a light tawny yellow, markedwith rich, dark velvety stripes, some double, some single,but all fairly even. The under parts of his body, his throat and chest, andthe peculiar little tufts of hair which grow on each side ofhis face, are of a soft, creamy white, which fades graduallyinto the light tints of the fur. His legs, down to his paws,are striped much in the same way as his body, and hislong, flexible, furry tail has dark velvety rings all theway down. His large, round head has small, rounded,upright ears, while the dark stripes on his face veryoften form the letter W, and he has long whiskers.
