This large celebratory group portrait, still preserved

in the sumptuous setting of the time, he portrays Cesare Bernasconi in the uniform of a lieutenant-colonel with his wife Virginia Bernasconi De Marchi and his son. Gerolamo and Domenico Induno, fleeing from Milan in 1848 following participation in the riots against the Austrians, they sheltered guests in Chiasso's house Cesare Bernasconi, concessionaire of the Chiasso railway line Bellinzona and point of reference for many exiles from the Risorgimento.
