Description
The baby is sitting down. They are also wearing a sash. Photograph was taken by James Madison Elliott. James Madison Elliott was born in Michigan in January 31, 1842 and died in Sept 3, 1899 in Columbus, Ohio. He was active in Columbus starting in 1864 until he died in 1899. He won five major awards at the 1882 Ohio State Fair in water color and crayon work as well as photography. He exhibited at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893. His older brother, George Rodimon Elliott came to work for him in the 1880s and 1890s. He was married to Idell Henderson in March 28, 1894. Idell took over his business after he died in 1899 and continued until 1922, which is the last year seen of the studio in Columbus, Ohio.
