It has quali-ties which are too great for it to disappear into thestrange unknown regions where th<5usands of quitebrilliant pictures go after their exhibition. Certanpaintings belong to history from the moment theyare completed. Through a series of many canvasesMr. Shannon has been perfecting his methods,but only now and then does his brush catch fireand receiving its impulse from life transform hiswork into something more than the cold pro-duct of supreme skill shut in to its own exercisesby the studio door.
