Description
English: Bust length oil portrait of Justice Samuel Nelson, who served from 1845 to 1872, by Freeman Thorp. The Justice is shown in three-quarter right profile. He has white hair, sideburns, and beard, and blue eyes. He is wearing a black coat and vest over a white shirt. The background is brown, with a red upholstered chair on the left. The frame is simple and gilded.
