Description
English: An image of John Frederick I, also known as John the Magnanimous, the Elector of Saxony (r. 1532-1547), Duke of Saxony (r. 1547-1554), and head of the Schmalkaldic League. To the left is John Frederick’s coat of arms; while to the right is an image of Daniel in the lion's den (Matthew 4) and the temptation of Christ. The images of suffering depict the suffering of John Frederick who was deposed as Elector and imprisoned .
