Notes | Italian: Il dipinto è entrato in Accademia, come anonimo e senza alcuna indicazione sul soggetto, in circostanza ancora sconosciute. In occasione della mostra "Il Veneto e l'Austria" (1989), Ferdinando Mazzocca ha riconosciuto il dipinto come una replica del disperso ritratto di Francesco Giuseppe I d'Austria che il pittore consegnò al regnante nel 1852. Il confronto con l'originale, è reso possibile grazie all'incisione a bulino su rame ricavata dall'originale da Carlo Raimondi conservata presso l'Accademia di Brera. Benchè non sia possibile ascrivere totalmente l'opera ad Hayez per la durezza che la caratterizza, senz'altro il dipinto è uscito dall'atelier del maestro il cui tocco si può riconoscere nella mano guantata che regge la spada o nel volto del ritrattato. La tela, probabilmente destinato ad un'importante sede pubblica, si differenzia dal primo innanzitutto per lo sfondo in cui viene sostituita la veduta di Villa Reale con la chiesa viennese di Santo Stefano. Le altre varianti, che denotano una maggiore semplicità della tela, sono: la mancanza dello stemma asburgico in alto, la riduzione delle dimensioni del tavolino, e la scomparsa del tappeto. Per quanto riguarda il ritratto, quì viene rispettata la ritrattistica aulica, riscattata solo dalla resa dell'ambiente e dei costumi. Il dipinto, deve aver colpito il pittore Franz Xavier Winterhalter che, nel 1865, ne ripropone le forme e i modi per il ritratto della coppia imperiale (Vienna, Kunsthistoriches Museum, Gemaldegalerie). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
