Description
Français : Portrait du graveur André-Benoît Barreau-Taurel (1794-1859), peint à Rome par Charles Thévenin où celui-ci était directeur de l'Académie de France à Rome (1816-1823). Taurel, prix de Rome en gravure de 1818, finit de parfaire sa formation à Rome à la Villa Médicis. Rome fut aussi aussi pour lui l'occasion de rencontrer la fille adoptive de Thévenin qu'il épousa en juin 1819. Souvenir de ses années romaines, l'artiste est portraituré par son beau-père, tenant les instruments nécessaires à sa discipline.
