Description

Mr. Alexander Henry Dinning Tolmer was born in Kent, England in 1840 and immigrated to Australia with his parents and an early age. He was educated at St. Peters College, Adelaide and on leaving school he became a drover on a cattle station at Lake Albert. He later became manager of the Mikkira station, Port Lincoln, in 1864, and the following year married Miss Emma Poulger. After some years managing an orangery in Paradise, he later returned to the land, managing a farm in the Bugle Ranges for several years until his death in 1928 aged 88. He was survived by his wife, and a son and daughter.
