Français : "Ce portrait a sans doute été exécuté vers 1649-1650, lorsque le duc Charles-Emmanuel II de Savoie, âgé de quinze ans, devint majeur et régna personnellement. Il était le fils de Victor-Amédée Ier de Savoie, mort en 1637, et de Christine de France, soeur du roi de France Louis XIII, qui assura la régence jusqu'à la majorité de son fils. Le jeune duc porte le collier de l'ordre suprême de la Très Sainte Annonciade, ordre de chevalerie créé par le comte de Savoie Amédée VI au XIVe siècle.
Henri Roy suggère que ce tableau serait une copie d'époque, eu égard à quelques faiblesses d'exécution. Michel Laclotte, en 2007, attribue le portrait à un anonyme piémontais (voir le Répertoire des peintures italiennes... sur la base de l'INHA)" |
