O primitivo peirao de Escarabote data, segundo os marineiros do lugar, do ano 1940. A maioria dos pescadores adicábanse á pesca do bou de vara, co que collian nécoras, chopos, fanecas, polbo,... Hoxe en día este tipo de arte está prohibida, e sustituiuse polos trasmallos e minos. Son aparellos tradicionais as nasas e os rastros que continúan a utilizarse hoxe en dia. As primeiras collen nécoras, camarón, chopo,polbo,...mentres que cos rastros ándlase ás ameixas e berberechos.Escarabote non é porto mexilloeiro, mais conta con cinco ou seis embarcacións mexilloeiras que recolien o mexillón nas bateas que tenen na Ría.'- A nave do peirao, hoxe convertida en almacén, foi no seu tempo unha importante conserveira.
