Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Porth Cadlan and Maen Gwenonwy Wil Williams in his book on the manganese mines of Llyn (The Llyn Peninsula Mines. Carreg y Gwalch Press 1995 ISBN 0-86381-315-1) states that in the early days of mining wooden sailing ships would be "run into Porth Cadlan at flood tide and left to lie on the sand at ebb to be loaded". Mules were used to carry the ore down to the ships. Today, there appears to be no easy way down to the tombolo linking the island of Maen Gwenonwy to the mainland. This photo was taken about an hour before low tide.
