Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Location: The Guildhall, Derngate, Northampton (south facing, front elevation). The impressive Gothic styled Guildhall was built by Edward Godwin and opened in 1864, replacing the smaller, now demolished, nearby Town Hall. Godwin’s building, totally symmetrical and complete with Mayoral balcony and stunning Great Hall, placed the 110ft high Clock Tower as centrepiece. However, between 1887 and 1892 Matthew Holding sympathetically added additional chambers to the western side, with assistance from Albert Jeffery.
This is a photo of listed building number 1052399.
