DescriptionPortales Valley meteorite2.jpg |
Slice of Portales Valley meteorite. Fell June 13, 1998. Roosevelt County, New Mexico, USA. At the American Museum of Natural History, New York. During formation, this meteor slammed into another with enough force to shatter the rock and liquify the iron, which then filled the crevices in the fractured rock. |
