The first floor of the building is de-voted to the library and museum, thefaculty room, the students common room,the large lecture hall, a household artroom and offices. The second floor of the building is de-voted to food work. There are five foodlaboratories where 100 students may atthe same time study foods and their prep-aration. The attempt has been made tomake these laboratories as sanitary aspossible. The floors are of terrazzo, thewalls up to the tops of the doors glazedtile, and the rest of the walls and ceilinga cement which gives a very hard finish,and according to the contractor can behosed down. It has been planned to usecoal, gas and electricity in the labora-tories, and it is hoped to very shortlyhave an electric stove which will workautomatically and which can be dependedon for accurate experimental work intemperatures. To be complete, the scientific study offood must be applied and lead up to the 212 POPULAR ELECTRICITY MAGAZINE

UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO actual preparation of not only a singledish but of meals and in connection withthis part of the work a large dining roomhas been provided where class instruc-tion may be given. But for the individualstudent a small apartment of kitchen,pantry and dining room has been plannedwhere she prepares day meals underhome conditions. To facilitate the workwith large classes, this suite of smallrooms has been repeated on the thirdfloor, and adjoining these suites roomshave been provided in which some of thestaff and the students who are workingin the home suites may live in the build-ing. In the north wing on the third floorthere are two household managementlaboratories with vitreous tile floors andtiled walls as on the second floor.
