oa»a-®» D«D *o B«S«B-^ . i WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY IN THE BALKAN WAR Wireless telegraphy played an important partin the Balkan War. Illustrated here are twoportable military stations of one half kilowattcapacity which were supplied by the TelefunkenCompany to the Bulgarian army. Official testswere made of each equipment. The first testwas made between the towns of Mustaphapasha, and Skobelovo, which are 50 miles apart and inspite of bad weather conditions, which areevident in two of the pictures, the tests weresatisfactory. In a second test, a distance of81 miles was covered, telegrams being sent at therate of fifteen words per minute, a wave lengthof 600 meters being employed.

Probably no other large center of popu-lation in this country has so many youthfulfollowers of the art of radio signaling as theBoston district, and the purpose of the neworganization to encourage practical work andresearch in this fascinating field has been somuch appreciated that no less than 250 activemembers are now enrolled, of which 20 per centhold government licenses as radio operators and50 per cent have made application for the covetedcertific
