Description

Situada a leste da vila de Almodôvar e construída sobre a ribeira de Cobres em data desconhecida na Idade Média (séculos XII ou XIII), a ponte tem 25 metros de comprimento, onde se desenvolvem três arcos de volta perfeita, de arquitectura românica.

É provável que neste local tenha existido anteriormente uma ponte de origem romana, revelando a importância de Almodôvar como local estratégico nas vias que ligavam Beja ao Algarve. Segundo textos antigos, a ponte já existia em 1375, tal como o Poço de Sacoto que lhe fica contíguo, tendo este cumprido uma função de abastecimento público de água aos homens e animais que por aqui passavam.
