Description

Esta é uma antiga Ponte de origem Romana situada sobre o bonito Rio Pônsul, na histórica localidade de Idanha-a-Velha, antiga Egitânia, a capital da “civitas Igaeditanorum“, que parece ter sido fundada pelo Imperador Augusto, numa zona de grande beleza natural.

A região de Idanha-a-Velha apresenta, pois, uma forte influência Romana, de um território que foi muito importante por alturas desta ocupação. Esta Ponte situar-se-ia no importante eixo viário entre Mérida (Emérita Augusta) e Braga (Bracara Augusta), que teve várias reconstruções ao longo da Idade Média.

A Ponte granítica é considerada uma obra prima de engenharia Romana, assente sobre arcos ogivais, e tem sofrido diversas alterações e restauros ao longo dos séculos, mantendo-se contudo ainda um marco importante da antiga Egitânia que albergava milhares de habitantes. <a href="http://www.guiadacidade.pt/pt/poi-ponte-romana-de-idanha-a-velha-16102" rel="nofollow">www.guiadacidade.pt/pt/poi-ponte-romana-de-idanha-a-velha...</a>
