A história da ponte da Ribeira da Meimoa recua aos Romanos que viviam na zona, foi destruída em consequência das lutas entre Romanos e Lusitanos, e foi mandada reconstruir em 1607, por D. Filipe II. A sua reconstrução introduziu-lhe algumas modificações que se mantém até hoje que são os dois arcos integralmente romanos que passaram a fazer companhia aos outros dois.
