Pontchartrain Beach entrance archway, New Orleans, 1939

Notes: This shows the entrance arch to the old Pontchartrain Beach by Bayou St. John, built in the 1920s, before the amusement park was moved to the location at the end of Elysian Fields Avenue. At time of this photograph the new Pontchartrain Beach had opened, and this old location was being demolished. Original caption misidentifies location as "Spanish Fort", which was on the other side of the Bayou.
