Description

O Promontório da Ponta do Queimado é um promontório português, localizado na freguesia da Serreta, concelho de Angra do Heroísmo, ilha Terceira, Açores e marca o extremo mais ocidental da ilha Terceira.

Este promontório teve origem numa erupção do vulcão da Serra de Santa Bárbara ocorrida em 1761 que originou uma estranha paisagem vulcânica que só muito lentamente tem sido conquistada pela vegetação. Estende-se por cerca de 100 metros ao longo do mar com altas fragas e algumas grutas.

Neste promontório foi construído o Farol da Serreta, o Miradouro da Serreta e o Miradouro da Ponta do Queimado e cultivados alguns vinhedos actualmente abandonados. É ainda nos novos terrenos originados por esta erupção que se localiza a Mata da Serreta e nesta a Estalagem da Serreta. <a href="http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponta_do_Queimado">pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponta_do_Queimado</a>
