Description: Yet another “find” from the 2004 MSH symposium “grab bag” – thanks to Gilles Haineault. MOB coll. The UV response is a rough approximation to what I see with the naked eye. However it’s not what my camera ”sees” so I had to make substantial use of Photoshop. Obviously I’m doing something wrong but for the time being this is the best I can do. One interesting note: The deep blue spot in the UV photo corresponds to a gemmy yellow inclusion. However, with the naked eye I see NO UV response from this inclusion either hand held or under a scope. So it must be emitting some sort of radiation that the camera sensor is picking up but my eye is not (which doesn’t sound too healthy). The “blue” color isn’t “real” – it’s just what I wind up with after camera + Photoshop. Without the UV photo, I would never have noticed the inclusion. But I have no idea what it is.

Beschreibung: Noch ein „Fundstück“ aus der „Wundertüte“ des MSH-Symposiums 2004 – dank Gilles Haineault. MOB-Koll. Die UV-Reaktion ist eine grobe Annäherung an das, was ich mit bloßem Auge sehe. Es ist jedoch nicht das, was meine Kamera „sieht“, also musste ich Photoshop intensiv nutzen. Offensichtlich mache ich etwas falsch, aber im Moment ist dies das Beste, was ich tun kann. Ein interessanter Hinweis: Der tiefblaue Fleck auf dem UV-Foto entspricht einem edelsteingelben Einschluss. Mit bloßem Auge sehe ich jedoch KEINE UV-Reaktion von diesem Einschluss, weder in der Hand noch unter einem Zielfernrohr. Es muss also eine Art Strahlung abgeben, die der Kamerasensor aufnimmt, aber mein Auge nicht (was nicht allzu gesund klingt). Die „blaue“ Farbe ist nicht „echt“ – es ist nur das, was ich nach der Kamera + Photoshop bekomme. Ohne das UV-Foto wäre mir die Aufnahme nie aufgefallen. Aber ich habe keine Ahnung, was es ist.
