Summary
[edit]DescriptionPolycarpon tetraphyllum leaf2 (14756529338).jpg |
Introduced, cool-season, annual, small herb. Stems are erect or trail loosely along the ground. Leaves are 4-15 mm long, obovate to spoon-shaped and opposite arranged; sometimes appearing to be in whorls of 4. Flowerheads are small and consist of branched clusters of tiny (2-4 mm long), green and white flowers. Flowering is mostly in spring. A native of central Europe and the Mediterranean, it is a weed of pastures, lawns, gardens and wasteland. Not grazed by stock and a very minor component of pastures; it usually indicates overgrazing or disturbance when abundant. Flowerheads often form a major part of the plant, hence the name ’allseed’. |
