Summary

[edit]
Description

Ten years ago I sailed as a passenger on the Polsteam bulk freighter "Isolda" on a five week voyage from Port Talbot in Wales to Thunder Bay in Canada across the Atlantic Ocean and up the St Lawrence River and Seaway and into the North American Great Lakes. In this picture the "Isolda" is approaching the Port of Cleveland and the Cleveland skyline can be seen behind the port including the Terminal Tower.

For those visiting on ships, the Port of Cleveland is very handy to all the downtown amenities of the city. With a short walk from the dock gates one could reach the Library, Post Office, ascend the Terminal Tower to the 42nd floor viewing gallery and visit the historic Lake Freighter "William G Mather". We were in Cleveland for several days so I was able to do all of those things and even take a bus to the edge of town to ride the Cuyahoga Scenic Railway. It's a nice city - I hope that I might return there some day.
