English: Larry Blackburn, a police officer assigned to the 596th Transportation Brigade, Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point, N.C., provides a situation report during an active shooter scenario as Tony Casella, an exercise observer/controller, watches the scenario unfold. Casella, who is assigned to the U.S. Army Police Academy at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., was one of several subject matter experts called in to support the exercise. The scenario was one of dozens of events that unfolded during the Point Defender 2012 exercise Aug. 20-23 at MOTSU. Point Defender is a Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command antiterrorism and force protection exercise held annually at MOTSU. As part of the exercise, personnel assigned to the 596th Transportation Brigade worked through dozens of scenarios designed to develop, refine and test the command’s antiterrorism response procedures. |
