Description
English:
The Frigyes Podmaniczky Monument is a work of sculptor Pál Kő and Gyula Balikó industrial artist ( 1991, relocated in 2019). The central part of the approximately four meters memorial is a stone niche containing the 120 cm bronze statue of Baron Frigyes Podmaniczky de Podmanini and Aszód real inner secret councilor, member of Upper house, intendant/theater manager, vice-president of the Budapest Public Works Council, Hussar Captain of/under Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Its pedestal consists of circular columns surrounded by a ring of bench elements with backs. At the top, it is closed by a cast-iron dome painted in greenish color, harmonizing with the closely St. Stephen Basilica and the lines of the original metro ventilation structures, with one clock in place of the lantern. The statue depicts the baron holding a small statue of Pallas Athena, that is a version of Carlo Adami's City Protector Pallas Athena, from whose hand the spear was stolen. - Podmaniczky Square, Lipótváros neighbourhood, 5th district of Budapest.
