Description Operation Plumbbob - John test. LAS VEGAS, NV. Test of a AIR-2A Genie nuclear air-to-air rocket. A plume of rocket smoke partially obscures the F-89 Scorpion at the instant of firing. This signaled the first time in aviation history that a live nuclear weapon was fired by a fighter aircraft at a target.
