About 13 biking miles from my home is a place called the Lookout Arts Quarry. The Joe Teehan Show alerted me to a concert that was planned at the quarry. Bicycle generators created the electricity for the sound system. It's neo hippy style. A bit different from memories of hippy style Woodstock, massive crowds and amps; with the power grid brought to bear, cables every whichway and heavy equalizer boards. In this age of hi and light tech, the equalizer can be a tablet computer, held in hand. WIFI instead of cables so the operator can even sit in the audience. The band bicycled from a train stop in Seattle, they are on tour back down the coast to home base in the San Francisco Bay Area. This was their first concert of the tour. Out at the rock quarry for an afternoon of music, skinny dipping and dancing. It wasn't a large crowd, but mellow and friendly. Off the grid so normally there would be the sound of a portable generator, but this was more quiet. A Pleasent Revolution; which is the name of the group. Also made me think of the spin class at YMCA which I haven't participated in as I'm usually outdoors on my bike. Pleasant Revolution. |
