| Description |
English: Playing fields, Peebles High School This was the start / finish area for the Karrimor International Mountain Marathon, October 28-29 1978. The event (which still continues under different sponsorship) required competitors, in teams of two, to complete orienteering courses set out on the surrounding hills over both days, carrying tents and food, without external assistance. The overnight camp was at Glenshiel Banks (NT2730).
Over 1800 people took part over 5 classes: Elite, A, B, C and Score. Elite winners were Roger Baumeister and Martin Hudson in 10h 23m 36s. |
