Summary
[edit]DescriptionPlay area next to Gracemount multi-storey flats - geograph.org.uk - 1529300.jpg |
English: Play area next to Gracemount multi-storey flats Play area in open space next to Gracemount flats. The three Gracemount tower blocks have been soft stripped in preparation for demolition on October 25th 2009 (Soutra Court, Garvald Court and Fala Court). The tower blocks provided 246 homes. The council propose building a 'low-rise' development of 220 units, mainly flats in three and four-storey blocks, with a considerable loss of open space as a result. The development plans appear to propose moving the play area next to the access road to the primary school (despite both being most heavily used at the same time of day). Some local residents are unhappy with the plans - see the Evening News September 16 2009 http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/latestnews/Residents-slam-plans-for-first.5650548.jp . |
