Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Platform, Dinnet Station
A very long platform at the site of the station which closed in July 1966. The railway was intended to run as far as Braemar, but terminated in Ballater. The story goes that Queen Victoria did not like the idea of a railway passing Balmoral, but I suspect financial good sense was behind the decision.

The long platform may be due to the demands of loading livestock, I have seen similar set ups in other rural stations in the northeast of Scotland.

The trackbed is now a cycle/footpath.
