Description
English: Plaque on St Martin's Gate. St Martin's Gate was a new opening created in 1966 in the ancient city walls to allow the inner ring road to by-pass the city centre. This plaque explains what was found during the destruction of the ancient wall. On the other side of the road there is a plaque commemorating the official opening on April 22nd 1966 by the Rt. Hon. Mrs. Barbara Castle M.P. - see 565900
