Description

Mirna gora je s 1047 metri med najvišjimi gorami na hribovitem obrobju Bele krajine. Dviga se na skrajnem jugovzhodnem delu razgibane kraške planote Kočevskega Roga, na jugu pa se stika s Poljansko goro. Prepoznavna so njena razčlenjena vzhodna pobočja, ki strmo padajo v dolino Divjega potoka in Vrčice, proti nizkemu belokranjskemu kraškemu ravniku pa se zložno spuščajo preko neizrazitih polic in rebri. Mirna gora z bližnjo okolico je zaradi dolomitne kamninske osnove pravi otok sredi zakraselih karbonatnih kamnin. Dolomitna podlaga napaja več studencev, najbolj znana sta na Planini in Ponikvah, strma vzhodna pobočja Gač pa so razčlenjena s povirnimi dolinami. Planinski dom stoji malo pod vrhom Mirne gore na jugovzhodnem območju Kočevskega Roga in zraven ruševin cerkvice sv. Frančiška.

Od doma ali s preurejenega cerkvenega stolpa je zelo lep razgled. Na vzhodu je pod nami Bela krajina z Metliko in Črnomljem, na drugi strani Kolpe pa je že Hrvaška proti Karlovcu; na južni strani vidimo v bližini Poljansko gorovje, za njim gore v Gorskem Kotarju s Klekom in vrhovi Velike Kapele; na zahodu se razprostira Kočevski Rog; na severu vidimo del Gorjancev s Trdinovim vrhom in Žumberak, pred njim pa Smuk in Semenič, ki se dvigata nad Semičem. Če je zelo jasno, sega pogled vse do Zagreba in Medvednice nad njim ter do Karlovca.
