Cette copie partielle du plan original montre la portion des fortifications situées dans l'est de la ville de Montréal, soit, sur le versant nord, depuis la porte Saint-Laurent, jusqu'à la porte de Québec, sur le versant est et de là, en direction de l'ouest et en bordure du fleuve, jusqu'au palais de l'Intendance, à l'angle des rues Saint-Paul et Saint-Victor (devenue Bonsecours).

On y voit en particulier la délimitation du terrain appelé "glacis", situé en bordure intérieure ainsi qu'extérieure du mur des fortifications, et le terrain que le gouvernement entendait réserver pour les fins militaires, soit le Champ de Mars, la Citadelle et l'emplacement occupé par les casernes de la porte de Québec. Sont aussi indiqués les empiètements sur le terrain du glacis dans le voisinage de la porte Saint-Laurent.
