DescriptionPlan of Lucknow.png	English: Map of the city of Lucknow, capital of the state of Oudh, 270 miles southeast of Dehli, and surveyed in the year 1856. This was about a year before the start of the Great Mutiny in May 1857, which resulted from 1st July in 1,700 English and Indian troops being besieged in Lucknow's British Residency. With the relief of new troops on 25th September commanded by Sir Havelock and Sir James Outram then a second relief force from Colin Campbell's troops in November, the siege was finally lifted in March 1858 when Campbell returned to finally drive off the Indian mutineers. Relief in the form of ground cover is shown by shading.
