In either of the foregoing forms of dyspepsia, the food passesthrough more of a rotting than of a digesting process, and thegases emanating from the decomposing mass, cause acidity andflatulency. Then the nutritious substances are so contaminated byproperties calculated to irritate or inflame the blood, that rottenapples would answer about as well for food as sound vegetables andmeats; and they would impart about as much benefit to the system. Epicures; good feeders; or those who are denominated fastlivers; and those who have plenty of flesh on their bones, are themost liable to that form of dyspepsia which is perpetuated by bloodimpurities. Imprudence in eating produces in, and sends forth from,the stomach to the vascular fluids, impurities which in time comehome to roost.
