| Description |
Nederlands: Objectgegevens Titel: Plafondstuk voorstellende “De Faam” Beschrijving: Plafondstuk. Olieverf op doek, staand formaat; de hoeken later schuin afgesneden maar bij restauratie in 1999/2000 aangevuld; waarschijnlijk ook aan bovenrand afgesneden. Voorstelling: binnen een geschilderde lijst een personificatie van de Faam, vliegend in een wolkenlucht, met een bazuin in de rechterhand, een lauwerkrans in de linkerhand; in de rechter benedenhoek twee verschrikt opkijkende kindertjes of putti, met links van hen bloemen. Trompe l'oeil effect, waarbij de geschilderde lijst aan de onderzijde van het doek een balustrade lijkt; door de sterke schaduwen wordt deze optische illusie versterkt. Herkomst: Geschilderd voor het zijsalet van het huis van Nicolaes Flinck aan de Hoogstraat (Rotterdam), nadat Van der Werff de geschilderde decoraties van Gerard Lairesse in het huis van Philip de Flines in Amsterdam had gezien.
