Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "One of the features of the recent bazaar at the Professional Women's league in New York City was the Bull Moose booth at which Miss Lillian Russell, Grace Field and Jean Marcet, the niece of Jane Addams[,] sold ballots with the names of the presidential electors on them. They were duplicates of the ballots used in the last California election and across the top in red ink was stamped: 'Women voted for Roosevelt in California. Why can't we do so here?' Miss Field sent to Los Angeles for the ballot forms used to instruct voters before the election. A minimum price of $1 each was set on them in New York but she succeeded in selling most of them for more than that at the bazaar. ¶ Miss Field's father was a close friend of Bret Harte, and was one of the original forty-niners. Her mother is one of the officers in the New York California Society. She is also a cousin of Eugene Field. Miss Field will be at the Alvin this week in 'The Red Petticoat.'"
