English: Pittencrieff Park The building in the distance is Pittencrieff House which dates back to about 1610 when it was built as The Mansion House for Pittencrieff Estate,it was acquired by Andrew Carnegie in 1902 and was later gifted to The People of Dunfermline, the house is currently used as a museum and visitor centre, it is also a Category A Listed Building.The small building on the right of the picture is a telephone kiosk which was built here in 1926 because it was felt by some that a telephone in the nearby tea rooms would be a nuisance to the patrons, the actual telephone equipment was moved to Pittencrieff House in 1970 due to vandalism. The kiosk is now a Category B Listed Building. |
