| Description | Pitman Family Mausoleum or Tomb at Mount Auburn Cemetery. This white granite sidehill tomb on the west side of Auburn Lake of Mount Auburn Cemetery was constructed in 1920 by Benjamin Franklin Keolaokalani Pitman for his family. The door to the tomb bears the coat of arms of Hawaii, signifying the Pitmans' descent from Hawaiian royalty. It is not certain who in Pitman's family is buried here. There is another area of the cemetery where an obelisk contains the names of his siblings, father and stepmother, and where a tombstone bears the name of his brother Henry Hoʻolulu Pitman. |
