English: Riley double barrel over and under flintlock pistol, circa 1870 flintlock, boxlock; tap action; double barrel, under and over; travelling pistol; .45 inch calibre; rotary priming pan; slab walnut-mahogany one-piece wooden grip; on left bottom of grip, gunsmith's repair of woodwork inlaid silver scroll pattern in grip; heel plate silver and embossed; 3 inch smoothbore screw-off barrels; engraved foliate frame; one piece pistol grip; moveable device on left side of lock regulates flash from flint to either bar; possible replacement with oversize screw to top butt strap markings- on left hand side of boxlock- (W) RILEY on right hand side of boxlock- LONDON other side Old London proof and view marks under barrel (owner’s) initials stamped on side of butt- J  S silver hallmarks at rear of heel plate manufacturer Riley, London, c1870s.
