Notes

Luger Model P08-14 German military issue semi-automatic pistol (standard artillery pistol), 1917 Collected during WW1 by WW Averill or his brother LCL Averill. 13-2278 2nd Lieut. WW Averill served with the Auckland Mounted Rifles while his brother 462192nd Lieut. Leslie CL Averill, served with the NZ Rifle Brigade (1918-1919), receiving the Military Cross for bravery at Bapaume, and was later the first New Zealander to enter the town of Le Quesnoy from a scaling ladder. In Le Quesnoy Averill helped round up over 700 prisoners.
