Description
English: A "spirits torpedo" (pirtutorpedo), used for smuggling alcohol across the Gulf of Finland during the prohibition in Finland during 1920s. The device could be dropped into ocean to avoid a search. The float is attached to bag of salt and would surface after the salt had melted, revealing the location of the "fish" to smugglers.
Suomi: "Pirtutorpedo" alkoholin salakuljetukseen suomenlahden yli kieltolain aikana 1920-luvulla. Se voitiin tarvittaessa laskea mereen tarkistuksen välttämiseksi. Korkki on kiinnitetty suolapussiin jonka liuettua korkki nousi pintaan ja "verkot" voitiin kokea.
