Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A Piper J-2 Cub on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. First constructed in 1936, it became one of the most popular light aircraft around the world. For decades, the Piper Cub remained the airplane of choice for the casual civilian flier. It was originally called the Taylor J-2 Cub, because it was built by the Taylor Aircraft Company. The J-2 was a version of the Taylor Cub, which was designed and built in 1931. The Taylor Cubs were boxy, so the J-2 was designed to look sleek and rounded. But it used the same 37 horsepoweer Continental A40 engine. The J-2 entered production in February 1936. More than 1,200 J-2s was were built before production ended in 1938.
