Summary
[edit]DescriptionPioneer Zephyr Postcard with route.JPG | Postcard photo of the Burlington Pioneer Zephyr, schedule and map of the train's permanent route. The back of the card has information that this train served as one of the "Advance Zephyrs" File:Denver Zephyr postcard promotion 1936.JPG for some months in 1936 until the larger trainsets for the route were delivered. Since the regular service for the Denver-Chicago route began in 31 May 1936, the Pioneer Zephyr was the first train to serve on it and was the train shown here File:Pioneer Zephyr Dawn to Dusk Club 1936.JPG at Chicago's Union Station on 31 May 1936. Those gathered on the platform rode this train from Denver to Chicago two years prior when the train made a historic record-breaking run in 1934. |
Date | Card was apparently mailed but there's no cancellation information. According to the information on the back of it regarding the Pioneer Zephyr's activities from May to November of 1936 and the statistics for the train over a two year period, this dates from 1937. |

- The card was originally produced by the Burlington Route in the time frame shown above with no copyright markings. The seller added marks which were apparently meant to stop copying of it.
- Before uploading this, I talked with user Quadell at en.Wikipedia. His opinion is that the card is in the public domain and that PD-pre 1978 licensing applies.
- I have removed the seller's marks but have archived the links to his/her original copies.
