Description
Español: Pintura de formato vertical, que representa a una figura femenina de cuerpo completo, cabellera larga, vestida de túnica color café y capa blanca, soporta en su brazo izquierdo a un niño con el atributo de un globo terráqueo; mientras que su brazo derecho sostiene un cetro y escapulario. En la parte inferior se encuentra flanqueada por la bandera de Chile y Argentina, junto con otras banderas americanas, mientras que en la parte superior de la pintura la coronan cuatro ángeles, los dos centrales con una banda celeste y otra roja. Esta iconografía cívico-religiosa de la coronación de la virgen con banderas cruzadas de Chile y Argentina, la resignifican como advocación vinculada con el triunfo de la Independencia. El General José de San Martín la nombra “Patrona del Ejercito de los Andes en la ciudad de Mendoza” y Bernardo O’Higgins en víspera de la Batalla de Chacabuco (1817) la declara “Patrona y Generala de las Armas Chilenas”.
