English: Pinks beating to windward in a strong breeze On the right, seen from close under the lee bow, a pink close-hauled on the starboard tack in a strong breeze and heavy sea. In the left middle-distance, the port broadside view of another pink in stays. This is a drawing by the Younger, signed in brown ink ‘W.V.VJ’. It is in pencil with pen and grey ink and wash. It is inscribed with an ‘L’ (light) in the sky, but with a wash of grey over that part. |
